Sunday
It was an early morning, departing from the CSUCI campus at 4am. We all arrived to the school, bags packed, our new shirts dispersed, and our excitement high despite the exhaustion that swept us all. Leaving the airport at 8:30am, our class of 21 students and faculty flew across the Americas, landing in the Liberia International Airport of Costa Rica. We were greeted with hot, musky air, and extremely high winds. We then took a two hour bus ride, which gave us front row seats to grazing cows, colorful housing, and green vegetation. Arriving at Playa Grande Surf Camp at 6pm, we were welcomed with our first warm delicious Costa Rican meal. The first night was warm and sticky as we settled into our bungalows anxiously waiting for our next day's adventures.
